Megan Forward reads from ‘A Patch From Scratch’.

Last Sunday we had the great pleasure of hosting an event with Megan Forward to celebrate the publication of her debut children’s picture book, A Patch From Scratch. It’s a beautifully illustrated book about a family who live in the city but want to live more like than do in the country so they decide to create a veggie patch from scratch. Megan and her family live in Brisbane and the story reflects their experience of getting chickens, making a chook house, making a garden and then sharing the fruits of their labour.

It’s inspiring, very informative celebration of sustainable living in the city. Megan shows how much joy can be found in working together as a family. As she says, “Let’s go on a journey together. Let’s find a patch of dirt in a bright sunny spot. Let’s dig, plant, water and see if we can become friends with the earth our feet. Let’s build…. A Patch from Scratch.”
